When TLA Australia wanted to create a safe and spectacular space for the Big Bash match entertainment at Adelaide Oval, they called Nexstage. Using our quality event-series Layher scaffolding, we designed a cantilevered stage to sit over the ‘tractor race’ at Adelaide Oval. The platform was the perfect performance space for the Big Bash dancers to help the crowd celebrate every Big Bash boundary. Nexstage’s expert engineering ensured the stage was safe, didn’t damage the ground or stands, and didn’t block emergency access to the oval. The stage was designed to stay in place for the entire season and to convert into a bigger three-level stage for the Big Bash New Year’s Eve extravaganza. The stage also met public safety standards, so it could double as a public access deck for competition winners attending the One Day International, giving the team at Adelaide Oval more opportunities to make use of their custom-designed stage.
Sun, sand and salt are no problem for the Nexstage team who built the stage for SummerSalt 2017 right on the sand of Glenelg Beach. Using concrete ballast to steady the massive structure, the stage was set and ready to host John Butler Trio and Missy Higgins who entertained the sold-out crowd right on the shores of Holdfast Bay.
When Kojo came up with the idea to launch the latest Mitsubishi Triton by having it rise to the second level of the Riverbank Stand at Adelaide Oval, they knew Nexstage were the team to make it happen. This stage concept presented several challenges, not the least of which was that the event date fell right in the middle of a four-day JLT Sheffield Shield match.
As a trusted stage provider to Adelaide Oval, Nexstage were able to create a stage design and production schedule that would deliver the spectacular launch moment, without interfering with the cricket match or oval operations. The base of the stage was covered with white cladding to ensure the structure wouldn’t interfere with the players’ line of sight. And the vehicle was kept covered until the pivotal moment, so as not to ruin the surprise in store for Mitsubishi’s guests.
Using stage technology usually used to raise a stage roof, Nexstage designed a reinforced platform that rose to reveal the car on cue. Audible gasps could be heard from event guests as the shiny new Triton came into view from the balcony, launching the new vehicle in a way that won’t soon be forgotten.
